What is the Brides of March?
The Brides of March is a pun on the term Ides of March and is a parody of weddings in western culture. At its most basic component, it's part bar crawl and part street theater while wearing a white thrift store wedding dress.
Of course, we have to add a New Orleans flare to the event by adding a second line with all the traditional trappings of a band, napkins, and umbrellas. We will also celebrate with a garter belt toss, a bouquet toss, and a high-heel race. Brides will also have the opportunity to win prizes in various categories.
Is there a cost?
Yes, $20 in advance, $25 at the event
As part of your registration, you will receive a commemorative garter belt and bracelet, a button with BoM logo, and 7 discount drink tickets.
Although this event is lots of fun for the brides, it does cost money to pull it off. We have to pay for a photographer, the second-line band, the police escorts, city permits, etc.
As the event grows, so does our support for the community. We will accomplish this by giving back to the community through donations to local charities.
Why Register?
Registering serves 4 essential purposes,
1) it provides us a way to collect the money and be transparent about how much money was collected and where it was spent
2) it lets us know who gets to vote on the charities we donate to,
3) it helps with planning and ensures we have enough food, second-line supplies, souvenirs, and who qualifies for drink specials
4) it provides us a way to contact you about updates to the event, such as where cheap dresses are available, how to determine your dress size, and the bar crawl timeline,
What if I don't have the money?
We will not exclude anyone from participating due to finances, but we do encourage people to contribute what they can at the registration table at our first stop.
